Heiðmörk belongs to Ómar Sævarsson and Sigurlaug Angantýsdóttir. Ómar was raised at Heiðmörk where the cultivation of vegetables began in 1985.  Together they took over the facilities from Ómar’s parents in 1994.  In addition to keeping the books for the couple’s facility and managing the staff on site, Sigurlaug is a teacher at the nearby school in Reykholt.

In 2003 Ómar and Sigurlaug took over a neighbouring greenhouse facility at Birkiflöt, which is located close to Heiðmörk, and expanded the horticultural operation at Heiðmörk. The facility produces fresh parsley, cucumbers and both cherry and regular tomatoes.
