Páll Ólafsson and Heiðbjört Ólafsdóttir are horticultural farmers at Hveravellir.  The facility was passed down from Páll’s parents, Ólafur Atlason and Alda Pálsdóttir whose grandparents founded the business in 1904.  Initially potatoes were grown, but in 1933 the first greenhouse was built and the cultivation of tomatoes began in earnest.

Páll is the fourth generation of vegetable farmers at Hveravellir.  Alda and Ólafur still work by their son and daughter-in-law’s side. During summers Páll and Heiðbjört’s daughters Alda, Anna Dís and Harpa Lind also work in the greenhouses, continuing the family tradition and expertise in organic horticulture.
