Laugaland is a family owned facility in Borgarfjörður that has been operating since 1942. Þórhallur Bjarnason and Erla Gunnlaugsdóttir manage the business today as the public limited company Laugaland HF.

Þórhallur and Erla primarily cultivate cucumbers and the greenhouses at Laugaland cover approximately 3.600 square metres. Geothermal heat is sourced directly from a hot spring on the property that spills into a nearby stream. The greenhouses are lit with state-of-the-art lighting technology allowing the cucumbers to be cultivated all year round.
